    Default Boost Sensor Broken?

1.9 CDI 150. I've just soaked/cleaned my boost sensor having read the sticky on this site - gosh, was it sooted up. Carefully brushing some of the muck out with a soft tooth brush it is now looking pretty clean but I noticed that down the center of the sensor from the inner body down into the plastic cage there is what looks to me a metal rod and perhaps a stiff plastic rod. The thing is - with a small screw driver I can move the metal rod sideways so that the end of it sticks outside (not too far out) of the cage. This seems a bit strange - it could be broken? Are there two 'rods' pocking down into the cage of the sensor and are they fixed? I fear mine is broken.

OK - done a bit more reading (sorry, should have done that first). I'm guessing my two 'rods' are the metal sensor (the one that I can move) and perhaps a plastic protector of some sort. So - should the metal sensor that comes from the body down into the cage be stiff/fix? Mine has a lot of movement.

If the car runs ok with it like it then i wouldnt worry too much

When i cleaned mine i didnt play around with ther internal bits as i know that they are fragile.

Can u not put a pic up fella. But to be on the safe side I'd replace it then have it fall to bits inside your engine

When I got a new one (2.0Dti, not CDTi) I realised that the plastic thing sticking down was a yellow component, a bit like a capacitor, and is probably the air temperature sensor.

I've ordered a new one - I was a bit worried too about the possibility of this metal piece falling into the engine. Thanks for your help.
