    Default Paint/Scratch/Chip Questions

    Hi guys,

I have a few questions which im hoping you can all shine some light on...

I have quite a few stone chips on the bonnet and I also have the odd lil scratch here and there... but I have a big scratch along the passenger side which goes across the wing all the way to the rear passenger door... kinda breaks up on the front door and continues.

The scratch was there when I got the car, but the guy before used a pen thing to go over it badly and u can see the paint on the outside of the scratch, not smoothed down at all... the best way I can describe it, is that someone has gone over it with black tip-ex... so it sticks out like a sore thumb (to me it does anyway)

    So, my questions:

Question 1: How can I remove the paint that was use to cover up the the scratch?

Question 2: I have seen Halfords chip and scratch kits for £11.99... are they any good?

Question 3: Any ideas how much it would be for a complete respray on the whole car? And does anyone know anywhere in the North West (Cheshire/Merseyside Area) that can do it?

    Suggestions welcome

    Lew

Halfords kits won't get a decent finish, you're best getting it done professionally by chips away or such like.

Had the same thing on mine and it looked REALLY bad!

Depending on how perfect you want it you could get it done by a pro or have a crack yourself. I did the latter and it ended up looking fairly good. You need to get ~2ft from it to notice.

I used a halfords kit with the fibre glass tool to remove the excess paint, leaving the scratch filled. Smoothed it a bit (using their rubbish foam tool) then used t-cut scratch remover and polish to finish it.

    Up to you really
