Default Z22SE Overheating problem. Help Please

    Help Please!! Z22SE

Changed Cylinder head gasket on a mate's car and had head pressure tested. Replaced thermostat and filled with water/antifreeze.

App 5 - 10 mins after start up the top rad hose becomes very very hot whilst all the other hoses/radiator etc are still cold then steam starts to come out of the small pipe/hose which runs along the front of the cylinder head to the expansion bottle. The water level begins to rise and fall before eventually coming out the top of the bottle.

If it is run with the cap on the hoses become solid due to pressure build up. The temp gauge keeps rising and the cooling fans come on but the bottom rad - thermostat housing hose is still cold

All other hoses, heater rad, rad etc remain cold.

I have been informed that the water pump had been replaced previously.

Could this be a blockage/circulation problem?

Are any bleed screws on the system?

    Any help/info would be appreciated.

    Neil

    Thanks to mattv6diesel.

Hi, The gasket can defo only go on one way due to the location of the m8 head bolts!

The water pump was changed a matter of weeks ago by someone else during the "troubleshooting process" of this fault.

The radiator has been flushed through with a hose as has the heater matrix.

Could there be a problem with the Block?

    Any help/info/ideas appreciated

Had a final look at this car tonight. Removed the "small water pump drive inspection cover" (four M6 bolts) to find the chain was not attached to the drive wheel/cog on the water pump it is just lying loose inside the cover -I think this may just have something to do with the problem........
