    Default How to adjust handbrake after fitting new pads

    I have just fitted new rear pads to my 2.0 turbo and now the handbrake is a bit high is the an adjuster under the handbrake like the vec b or doyou tighten it up another way

    Once pads are fit, push foot brake until the pads have gripped the disc, then lift the handbrake lever... they are self adjusting so you may want to repeat the process a few times... see the howto

    Do I have to have the rear wheels off the ground to adjust it or can I do it flat on the ground depress footbreak and then pull up handbrake

    it shouldn't make any difference mate... when i replaced my discs & pads i remember it took a good few goes for the hand brake to adjust, just keep pulling it up on the ratchet & repeat for a while

    Is this with the engine off or the car running or again does it not matter :-)

    There used to be instructions in the handbook for the Vectra B for this, but no longer appears

    Just done this job today myself.

    It will take about 500 miles for the rear pads to bed in and the handbrake will get better as they bed in.
