How do I know if the car has anti-freeze in it or not?

Does reddish coolant indicate Its all prepped for the winter??
Whats the best product to use?
Also what precautions will people be doing on their GSi's for the winter?? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...xtra-grit.html Expecting -20 Degrees

about 3 months ago i went in to vauxhall to buy some genuine gm vauxhall antifreeze i asked for the one for my 1.8 vectra they gave me the red/orange 1 litre bottle
i already had the red/orange originally from new in the tank
part number 93170402
it is longlife and goes down to -38
mix 50 percent water and 50 percent antifreeze
about 4 pounds

Yes the reddish coolant means there is antifreeze in it. The Vec requires OAT antifreeze. Although there is no official service life for this 5 years is about the minimum life span. If you are considering changing it I have found the the stuff from VX is as cheap as a motor factors.

Got a merc in the family with coolant that is 15 yrs old never been changed and still hovers around -25 when checked which is fine for the uk.

If you test yours and it's still in spec leave it alone unless your bored then bach flush out the radiator and the heater matrix and re fill.

Then get a air lock and wish you had not bothered.
