    Default Changing Spark Plugs

How easy is it to do on a 1.8 SRi (VVT) and what does the gap need to be set at? I'm getting the plugs from VX so could they be pre-gapped? Thanks.

on a i.8 should be pretty straight forward ... make sure you have the correct tools and take your time .. you dont want to snap a plug off

and to answer the question .. yep the plugs SHOULD be pre gapped if purchased from VX (and anywhere else if the correct type purchased)

    good luck

Plugs should only be regapped if they're single electrode, but they should come from manufacturer already correctly gapped.

If they're mutli-electrode then any attempt at regapping can prematurely wear them out as the spark will always take the shortest route and wear out one electrode quicker than the others.

As to changing them, I can't imagine it being much different to the 2.0 engine that's mentioned in the HOW2.

very easy, unbolt the rail coil on top of the rockerbox, pull the rail coil up and the plugs are down the top of the cylinder head, a 12mm plug socket & a long extension required. when putting them back i always put a dab of copper slip on the thread. DON'T over tighten them just a nip after they get tight.

Hardest part I found was getting the coil off the plugs in the first place.

Some 1.8's got iridium sparkplugs from the factory

(oh all right, the Dual Fuel ones did, because LPG needs a stronger spark)
