they can only be programmed by the company who supplied it mate..
The wifes vec show car is currently being stripped for parts before i scrap it, keep an eye on the sales section.. https://www.vectra-c.com/forum/garage_vehicle.php?do=view_vehicle&id=709
Ive looked at the ones LMF are selling and they say they have BSR tuning software, so i assume then that further stages will be downloaded from BSR then?
Do other companies have their own boxes or mostly just map your ecu?
Thanks for the reply
there is a about 4 or 5 companies who use PPC devices, they supply them and only they support and update their own units.. Most tuners will remap the ECU directly as you say.. PPC units are a more expensive way of getting a map but you can obviously remove the map and but your car back to what it was before or buy another map and download it to the ppc unit. Most act as fault code readers as well and some can be used a data loggers to send to your mapper to enable map tweaks.
I take it yours is a BSR ppc unit?

Not bought one yet, just getting info first. Would a 220bhp remap cost much less than a Ppc?
I see neo brothers do a kit for the Saab 2.0t for £330, I might get in touch with them for a Vectra price.
a custom remap would cost less than purchasing a hand held device...
the are pros and cons from both sides ... and i've run both custom and handheld type maps ...
with a custom map as said - it can be tailored to your car (if programmed on a rolling road) and if the provider is decent in the event of a "loss" of map can be reloaded free of charge .. having a face to face with the mapper is also an advantage as you can see where they are ... what they do .. how much they really know, should check your car for any faults PRIOR to mapping .. etc
with the handheld ppc type device its a generic map (remember all cars even though "created equal" may have minor discrepancies in how the pump runs the injectors work etc which can affect fuelling .. this on some cars running higher stage generic maps can cause issues... and have been experienced with some of the members on here
if your looking for around 220bhp and have no further plans then a local decent mapper can do that for circa £300 at least you can then go back if you have any problems ... rather than trying to sort over the phone or email while your car wont drive correctly
im running bluefin presently - but they dont do a handheld device for the 2.0T

I think then a custom remap would be best really. Already got a full stainless with sports cat planned, an induction kit in the shed waiting to be fitted.
220 was just going by the PPC figures but, if a remapper could take it as far as poss without any further mods that would be ideal.
Whats yours producing with the Bluefin
Many thanks for your replies
Dez has a 2.8T engine, more powerful than ours so will be getting very different figures to you..
