    Default CCR2006 married to screen??

Folks, im trying to buy a CCR2006 4CD and tape deck.
From what I know its a straight plug and play but the owners saying it needs the screen to, which it is married to??
Also been told that the Vec it came out of had the scroll steering wheel controls, again I was under the inpression these only came with the button steering wheel controls. Owner reckons his car was an 04 reg, meaning half-canbus, but the display and scroll.controls full canbus!
Im confused and does it sound a load of twaddle???

Owner said he has the code and it with his screen. When the particular screen is not wired, it just comes up with safe until THIS SPECIFIC screen is connected back, then it fires up perfect.

04 reg could be half or full canbus, as they started changing over in 2004. Mine's from Jan 2004 and is half, but I've seen a Sept 2004 model that's full.

Yes, I'm certain all the four digit radios are half-canbus too.

As for the year of changeover, it's part way through 2004 when they started coming from the factories as the new full-canbus models. This almost certainly doesn't match up exactly with when the DVLA rolled over the registration plate numbers.
So there are some 04s with half-canbus, and some with full - and probably some 54 or ever 05s with half that were sitting around in dealerships unregistered. It's maybe just about possible for a 53 plate to be full-canbus, but it'd have to be quite unusual in how the registration documentation got processed!

Kind of like the handful of Renault 5 GT Turbos on K plates - the model was officially discontinued in 1991 (J), but those that were standing on display in Renault dealerships were eventually sold, but ended up with 1992 (K) plates. There's nothing special about them, just that they spend a couple of years being polished in a nice warm dealership rather than being outside on the road being driven!

Maybe this is a half-can car with a full-can steering wheel, that the buttons aren't fully functional on?

the new type fullcan was the early 2005 model year (2004.5) where they changed to the CD30 ect.

No 2003 can from standard be full-can, then it have been alterd to be so..

but maby as rich r have written..

You can actually make the CCR2006 work with fullcan.. just change in the iso-plug... and bit of change inthe screen (wiring that is).. then you are done..
