Yes but it wouldnt be easy. There's a black plastic housing mounted tightly into the seat that the cup holder assembly clips into, also the fabric/leather on the seat has plastic edging to it top and bottom around the hole that hold it in place when you slide the cup holders in.

I've got a spare bench sat here at the moment with all the bits, I'll try and take some pics and show you what I mean when I get home tonight.

Edit: actually a few of the shots from my recent leather install thread show most of this. Here ya go...

This shows the cupholder assembly being removed and the two holes in the bottom of the bench foam that you have to stick a screwdriver into to release the clips on the assembly (also viewable in this pic).

This shows the plastic housing left behind fixed into the bench.

On this one you can just about make out one side of the plastic attached to the seat cover above the hole on the cover.

Yup. Ive done this taffy. Basically I cut a thin hole in the fabric sightly smaller than the width of the holder then, while the wife was out, used a bread knife to cut out the required amount of foam from inside the seat. Works perfectly well. Only difference is the factory seat has a plastic holder built into the seat.

I've got a spare bench for a hatchback (with no fabric on it so you'd have to transfer your own to it), complete with insert and cup holder assembly sitting in my garage. Can't be bothered to package it up and post it (it would be huge) but make me an offer of a few beer tokens and you're more than welcome to come pick it up if you want it.

Dasrab, how solid do the cupholders feel as you have retro fitted them?

Fine, surprised tbh. I really thought Id end up having to get a new back seat. I tried to get a new rear seat before I did this mod, but I could only find SRi seats (grey check) with it fitted and the LS has blue check. Ill try to take some pics tomorrow. You could always just pick up a rear seat and recover it like Ian did with his.

To be honest they're not exactly solid when factory fitted!

Nice little mod though, I use mine all the time, mainly as a place to shove empty cans when I want to put a full one in the front holder!
