Default Finally fitted Aux input to my stereo!!

After buying the kit off ebay over 6 months ago I finally got round to fitting it recently to by 2006 Siggy. I carefully followed the instructions provided and patiently soldered all the components. Made a couple of **** ups along the way but got there in the end. Tonight I finally sat in the car, plugged in my iphone and listened to some tunes. Am so happy I thought I'd share it with you all. Especially as it was from reading threads on this forum that convinced me I should have a go.

Also an oportunity to say thank you to yysnet for all his help (and patience!), much appreciated!

If anyone is thinking of doing it, is average at soldering, has the right tools and a lot of patience, then go for it!

The kit is about twenty quid on eBay but you do need other bits n bobs and may need Tech2 work done. Here is the item no. 330619534164

I have a CD70. The kit is the one identified by Grumpybob above on ebay. Supplied with step by step instructions with photos.

As also eluded to, there is a few other bits that also need to be done. I did it in this order:

    - Got latest firmware DVD from Vx dealer and updated the firmware on my CD70. This added the option of 'Aux' on the screen where you select FM/AM/CD etc.

    - Bought the kit off ebay as already mentioned

    - Bought the tool to remove the stereo HU off ebay (about £1.50) and bought a 3.5mm stereo jack socket from Maplin (also about £1.50)

    - Remove the stereo and completely dismantle it on a work bench with good light, suitable tools and a lot of patience, as per the guide provided to get down to the main circuit board. Then with a fine tipped soldering iron solder about 20 micro-components (resistors, capacitors and a couple of micro chips all provided) onto the circuit board as per the instructions. Then put it all back together.

    - Mount the 3.5mm socket somewhere on the dashboard. I put mine at the back of the bottom storage tray which sits under the heater controls so that I can plug in a lead with a 3.5mm plug at either end and my ipod sits in the slot. Then wire the back of the 3.5mm socket to the back of the stereo using the cables provided in the kit and as explained in the instructions.

    - Put everything back together, plug it in, sit back, cross your fingers and hope for the best! Da daaaa

It not that difficult if you're reasonably good at that sort of thing, and it took quite a while, but it was worth it in my opinion.

I would have thought so if it's the same head unit and doesn't already have an aux in.
