    Default Aerial base perished!

    Hi guys,

Spent the past hour removing bits of the interior of my hatchback so I could remove the aerial and find out if it was the cause of my water leak.

The base rubber is perished as usual, anyone know where I can get a replacement? I hear the rubber seals aren't available and a new aerial from the stealers will cost a bomb.

I'd fit a generic or shark fin aerial, but the hatchback has the washer jet built into the aerial base...

im getting my roof vinyled black and my seal is not the greatest, also found same problem no chance of getting a seal alone, depending on model between £30-£90 from stealers, £20 from breakers (possibly with another scrap seal.

how about a piece of rubber and trim a gasket yourself?? would this work?

chances are itll get a smidge of black silicone too just to make sure??

Aerial base part number is 24437021, GPS showing 1 at £24, so expect it to be £30ish from the dealers.

Mine's looking a bit grotty, but I'm not paying £30 when all that's needed is new rubber seal.

I reckon we should be able to revive the seal. Maybe remove it before it deteriorates too much, sand it gently to remove the sunlight affected layer of rubber, then give it a coat of paint on the outside to prevent further UV damage (masking off the sealing areas obviously!).

Failing that, I'm off to cut up an old door mat

Why dont u just flush roof, and have none at all and seal a rubber bung in the hole?? Is the rear jet wash really that important? Cars look nice with no aireal.
