    Default smelly car

went into paper shop this morning and i leave my car just outside whilst i nip in on my way to work and woman behind counter if there was anything wrong with my car, a bit perplexed i said not to my knowledge , why ? .
and she replyed everytime i park outside she gets a gas or fumes kinda smell.
now ive never noticed before but since she mentioned it i can smell it now , it only seems to be when the car is cold and only smell it outside of the car not inside,
im putting it down to been de catted, but surely it shouldnt smell , should it ? has anyone else experianced this ?
would a new fuel filter, air filter, oil filter/oil change improve it ? and ive noticed its smoking a little too. but not masively.

    any advice would be nice.
    cheers

Mine stinks, (1.9 cdti 150) but it has a crd-t on map 3+1 a scorpion elbow and decatted. Most diesels stink, think some of the older x5's are the worst.

However i do know another vectra with the same engien as mine and that has a blowing flexi and a blowing exhaust manifold gasket, but you can smell that from inside the car.

I've had that problem with the smell for the past year, every morning i'd reverse up the my drive and the smell would come in through the vents. I had always put it down to being a diesel but yesterday I had a new front pipe/flexi fitted and this morning there was no smell.

Diesel fumes always have an aroma to them especially on cars without a DPF or older gen emissions, they are generally nothing to worry over in reality unless they enter the cabin in normal use,,,
