Default Mounting a satnav on the dash...

    Hi guys,

recently bought myself a Tomtom Via Live (which is awesome by the way) and picked up one of the black plastic discs which you put on the dashboard to attach the satnav sucker mount to.

    BUT...

I've not attached the disc yet, as I'm worried that I'll want to remove it at some point and it will either A) not budge or B) leave a horrible sticky mark on my dashboard!

Anyone care to put my mind at ease? At the moment I'm sticking the Tomtom in the middle of the windscreen, but it's very hard to reach!

    Try something like this.
Got an earlier version and it works well. Bit expensive but maybe cheaper versions around

I connected my disc to a spare switch at the side of the radio. I drilled and bolted the 2 together, using a disapearing head bolt (grind it down util it is flush) and put a very thin rubber washer to seal it (make sure everthing is smooth). If it as an arial wire it will locate inside the pull away moulding, running it across the passenger side. The spare wire to lighter will tuck away in the square hole under the radio.

I hate to have wires danggling and this prevents the senareo. And if needs be, I can pick up a new blank for the switch for a few quid.

The only downside is at first I used to keep catching it as I moved my hand from the gears to the wheel, but I soon got used to it.
