    Default Cooling fan

I take it it's not normal for the cooling fan to kick in after a couple of minutes after the car has sat for over 3 hours, if not what are the possible causes.

Depends if you had the air con on or not. The air con will kick the fans in to blow air through the condensor.

The air con fan can be switched on/off manually
The radiator fan will eventually come on if the engine has been sat long enough, especially in warm weather
It may be possible if the engine has been idling for three hours as the core temperature of the engine will be very high
