Thought I'd post up some photies from Brunei.
To cut a long story short, We went out to help a ship at short notice. Flew with Etihad Airways Business Class to Bangkok and thai air cattle class to Brunei. Some 27 hours journey time. A company rep based in Brunei met us in our 5 star hotel and then said why are you staying here?....I can get you into the Empire....It much closer to the ship and nicer too.
OK we said, and she got us 5 rooms appologising for that fact it was in the Annex. THe British Embassy escorted us to hte ship and that night we went to the Empire. My god you've have got to see this!!!
Any one going east I'd recommend Etihad airways and the Empire (www.theempirehotel.com)
Built in 3 years by the Sultan of Bruneis Brother it was meant to be a 7 star hotel. However due to lack of numbers coming in from overseas it can only get 5/6 stars:
Business class on Etihad:
The annex.....about the size of a normal hotel:
Some shots around the hotel. I couldn't do it justice. I defy any photgrapher to do that!
The 3 screen cinema and theatre:
One of the 5 restaurants.
One night we asked to see a suite.....OMG Gold this gold that gold everything. The capet was so thick a colleague disappeared.
Oh and we paid £70 per night!
The hotel is on the edge of the rainforest....apparently it's full of cobras!
I managed to have a dip in the south China Sea!
Work was hard....97 degrees and 70% humidity.....The flight back well it was mostly Air swiss business class. Thats enough said about that! I'm tired but in awe. It's amazing to see how the other side live.
