    Default Slow Blower

Just noticed yesterday and today, with the cold weather, the blower doesnt blow unless its on no.4. When the temp his 90deg, the blower works fine, but until then nothing until it hits 90deg!.

Is this just my car or is this a "feature"?

If you have climate, I think that it may be ok. mine when I start off doe,s not blow, but as the car warms up you can hear the fan speed up, I suppose the sensor see,s no need for the fan to blow cold air when you have set it to say 25 degrees, try turning the big knob to bring the heater to manual then you can select the speed you like. if you do not have climate then all this will be no use to you but interesting to read I hope.

On CC the fan will blow slowly when it's cold as Ed says above - no point in blasting cold air into the cabin when you don't want it - and it will increase the speed as the engine warms up. But when you turn the manual fan speed dial you can choose any fan speed you want - from 1 right up to the 7.

With the AC it could be a 'feature' - it assumes you don't want the fan blowing as it's cold - but it'll let you have it on at #4 so you can demist? Interesting to see what another car with AC does if anyone else replies.

Very odd, I was just about to start a new thred. Ours has all of a sudden just packed in.

Fan will only work on number 4 even when the car is warm A/C on or off (No CC on our car).

Knackered resistor on the heater motor ? i know old fords suffer with this problem , my vectra has semi auto climate control , i leave the fan in the A position and it starts kicking in after a few mins when the engine is getting warm , dont fancy being blasted with icy air this time of year , had a laguna when i 1st started for vodafone and the fan packed up leaving newark , so i had a 250 mile drive in freezing temps with no heat , was tempted to set fire to the car to gain some heat .....

I thought I had a problem (during the summer) with no air coming out the vents in the middle (computer display area) of the dashboard.

With both zones of the climate control set to around 21 deg nothing came out either vent even if you wound up the blower speed. If you reduced the zone temp to a cold setting (e.g. low) loadsa air came out the middle vents

I guess it is meant to do this

I've noticed mine is very slow up to position 3, pos 2 is like pos 1 of older cars, pos 4 still blasts, had something to backup Dens theory, the resistor unit does go, on an Omega it's behing the glovebox, so i'll assume it'd the same in a Vec, normally next to the fan itself, so where the fan is located it should be next to it, looks like a large heatsink on a black base, hth.

I agree with DennisTheMenace so the car is booked in for next Friday. I think the "rearstat" I think is called has gone in the heater motor.
