Default Inlet manifold 1.9 cdti 150 help

    Hi all
I had my car remapped today and as standard car was losing 10bhp, Ben at mas said that the inlet manifold was worn as the flaps wasnt functioning properly and around number 3 which operates all the 4 flaps was oily etc.

1.Is there a how2 for inlet manifold for my engine?
    2.prices/links/part no's?
3.he did say they can be repaired but im guessing its best to get a new one?
4.Has anyone fitted a new one themselves or is it a garage job?
5.what else would i need? new swirl bar? gaskets etc?

    many thanks

Hi mads, just responding to your PM in here.. The one i did myself last christmas I just ordered the new type inlet manifold and gasket for it. I reused the 'actuator' and all of the other parts. It can be a pig to do the first time if you havent done one before. Allow a complete solid day to do it..

thanks, im getting confused? basically i think the flaps wasnt operating correctly and the swirl bar came off when he was playing with it, he fitted it again but i dont think its sealing properly and maybe auctuator isnt the best so thats why i think im losing a little bit of power?

do you really need to replace the whole manifold? can you not just get a new swirl bar with new seals or is actuator built into manifold?

is it the manifold thats worn rather then the swirl bar and seals?
do you have a part number for new type manifold and gasket and is this the new type to try and stop this problem from happening
    thanks

Hi as you may have noticed i'm down the pit in the cdti manifold 'how 2, The best test if the bars still on is to run the engine with the heater/blower on (bonnet down), If you get fumes into the car then the manifold is leaking gasses into the engine bay & are drawn into the cabin, The swirl motor can be seen to be working by getting someone to rev the engine whilst watching for movement, usually just one sweaty swirl isn't too bad & a repair like the £1 swirl bar 'how 2' fix is fine for a good few thousand mile. I had this fix for about 2 yrs but the fumes got to me in the end hence i did mine & then bens in the how 2.

Ben at mass just said the flaps wasnt operating correctly and the swirl bar wasnt connected right and it came off when he was moving it, he put it back on but thinks my small loss of power is down to this and the fact that its all cunked up inside.
I know its more money but as im keeping the car for years i think i will go for a new manifold and gasket, found this
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2708181357...ht_1163wt_1037
now i just need to work out whether to have a go at this myself or get a garage to do it or see if someone on here who is local could do it with my help and i pay them etc

I will order that one from ebay unless anyone else has a better price?
thats the newer type for my engine isn't it?

    thanks for your help
