Default Sudden changes in MPG whilst driving

    Hi peeps
Had a very interesting (pain in the ass) situation the last couple of weeks which I'd like peoples opinions on.
I've got a 150 CDTi estate on a 57 plate with 46k on it. fully serviced and not driven hard (mostly). I like to make the most of my fuel !

I noticed whilst driving that from start up until it gets upto temp that the fuel economy is OK (48 -51mpg average) but sometimes when up to temp the onboard comp suddenly starts showing really poor MPG figures (25-28mpg) and if stationary it shows the car using 1gal per hour where as normally it shows 0.2gal per hour.
If i turn the car ignition off and back on again it seems to reset itself, (back to OK MPG) sometimes for the full journey but other times only for 5 mins or so.
I thought of the thermostat but the car seems to run at about 80 deg when upto temp without any wild swings in temp so am discounting that.
    Anyone any ideas?

As above......and switching the engine off during this process isn't advisable. And your temp should sit around 86.

    Default

as above it is DPF cleaning.

Let it complete, or the filter will clog and you may end up in limp mode or found on roadside dead. Also, the car will constantly try to do a regen if you interrupt it all the time & will drink fuel as a result.
