Build up your customer base first before setting out .Try advertising around your local area, talk to people you know say from your local pub to judge interest . that way you can assertain how much work is likely to be generated .
Car detailing funny enough is seasonal , many people are reluctant to pay for the cars to be cleaned in the winter months knowing the likelyhood of it getting dirty again the next day.
Driving vauxhall,s for 30 + years
and still loving it
Thought about doing this last year, buying a van and all equiptment for about 5 grand, then spending as much as you can afford on advertising. Spoke to a couple of professional mobile valeters and majority of them said that it's a difficult business to make money in, mainly because there's that many £5 wash and wax places about now that people just arn't interested in paying £20 a hour for someone to clean there car to a standard that most people don't care about. In the end I ended up creating a portfolio of all cars I'd detailed and showed it to people who were interested, this generated a bit of weekend business which I didn't mind doing,
If you can maby secure a couple of contract so it's guarentees income then go for it, other than that it's dead, especially in winter!
It's something I really enjoy doing but most people can't tell the difference between a 3minute car wash and a 2 hour detail, which is a shame really....
Oh and having a clean car/van all the time helps too, after all it docent really look very good if you turn up in a rusty old tranny van haha
There's a bloke around Middlesbrough/Stockton way that does mobile valeting with a black VW caddy with 19" BBS rims, its always immaculate!
Cheers man am not planning doing it in winter plus don't have the cash just yet I enjoy the detailing aswell like a hobby spend around 3 hours plus giving mine a good clean to show how much I love ma vectra lol
Am wanting to get a vivaro colour code it side steps bull bar with fogs nice wheels and lowered aswell as being shinny and clean all the time
