Default Poor paint work on 58 plate Vectra

I recently purchased a 58 plate Vectra SRi in 'Ultra blue' from Evans Halshaw. Prior to that i had an 06 SRi Nav in Misty Grey which was one of the best cars i have owned.
The 58 plate though is not proving as well looked after as my old one was and upon closer inspection has lots of light scratches on the paintwork and its also losing its lacquer coating (well its actually peeling away) from the bottom of both front wings.
First question i have is does anyone have any suggestions for removing or hiding the light scratches without major paint work repairs?
Secondly, car is still under VX warranty until Jan 2012 - should I look for them to remedy the lacquer peel?
Car has 36K on the clock with two services in the book from Arnold Clark (not sure which branch though).
Not sure id buy a dark coloured car again as its a nightmare to keep clean and free of imperfections on the paint.
    Cheers,
    Durham Red

Some scratches may polish out with a machine polisher. I'd go back to VX about the peeling lacquer though. That doesn't seem right for a 58 plate, even if it hasn't been that well looked after.

Thanks for the advice, I'm going to approach VX through my local dealer next month when I will look to get an annoying rattle fixed on the centre strip of the dash!
Regarding the lacquer peel - whilst i have FSH I dont have any entries in the paint / body inspection sections of the service book. If VX take the pedantic attitude they may argue no proof of bodywork inspections means no fix for me!

    Default as above

The car must have had an accident before you got it. Lacquer is baked onto car. The repair must have been done without an oven. Scratch marks are fro rubbing down paper wet and dry to get rid of in perfections. I would say shoddy job. If you car is network Q take it back as that covers paintwork.

Car is accident free gents, am being told the paint defect is a result of excessive salt spray from winter roads and is not uncommon! Spoke to a paint specialist yesterday who confirmed this.
Scratches are nothing more than supermarket car park wounds and are not visible unless its bright sunshine. Couple of options open to me including a localised lacquer repair to the bottom of both front wings (it covers a 1.5 inch square section each side) and a professional polish to remove any obvious light scrathces. Total cost £200. Think i'll go with that.
