Default Will i need to uprate my alternator?

Hi all. I'm about to install a second amplifier and wonder if ill need to upgrade my alt?

My primary amp draws a max 50A and the second is rated at max 25A. As I've heard the standard alt puts out 105A that'll leave me 40A spare at minimum. I drive a 2004 1.8 LS if that's any help. Obviously I won't constantly be using it at full whack but input is appreciated! :-)

I do plan on doing the big three wiring upgrade soon too.

    Cheers

You should be fine. The crucial word in your question is "max". The chances of those amps actually drawing 75A is zero. For a start you'd have to have them on maximum gain (you're stupid if you do) and you'd have to run the head unit flat out let alone counting power drops in the supply, resistance in the earth connections etc etc etc etc etc

Figured as much too be honest but cant be TOO careful can i? I can't really afford to replace the alternator if I kill it lol. The max currents are what they're fused at so I'm feeling a lot safer about it. I think the max my system can run at (with the second amp) is about 900w RMS but then I'd be thrashing it.

Thanks for your help guys, I can finally hook and mount the amp now :-)
