    Default Soooooo confused!!!!!!

    Morning everyone,

Not quite sure where to post this as it's not really a bad issue, just confusing.

Having not used the warm setting on my cars air vents for about 6 months I have noticed something which I can't figure out!

Within approximately 1 minute of starting my car and driving off I have warm air coming out of my air vents. The car has been sat over night from around 19:30 until 07:00 the following morning, this is 11.5 hours.

The coolant guage isn't even registering obviously as the car has only just been started but there is warm/hot air available from my air vents???

    Any ideas?

Think what temperature your hands are, probably about 30°C if you're feeling chilly, and what temperature the coolant starts at - about 15°C at this time of year. Now think what temperature air coming out of the vents has to be to feel warm - about 40°C is quite a bit hotter than your hands.

Engine normal operating temperature is about 85°C. So you can see that you'll be feeling warm air long before the temperature gauge moves at about 60°C.

But yes, the Vectra C does have a decent air flow through the heater vents compared to a lot of cars, so you get plenty of warm air into the cabin quite quickly.

There was an optional auxiliary heater system that you could have fitted that would warm or cool the car even when it's switched off - according to a timer. But I think Vauxhall stopped offering it after a while because nobody really took them up on it.

Thanks guys, that has put my mind at rest. Started to worry there was an electrical fault with my car. Was worrying it could be a potential fire hazard!
