    Angry 2007 Signum 3.0 V6 CDTi Jolting

    Hi, and help!!!

I'm sorry if I've started a thread which may of been discussed previously but I'm on a half hour lunch break so don't have time to go through lots!

    Anyway, the car:

Signum 3.0 V6 Elite post facelift 2007 (57 plate). 63k Full VX SH

    Problem:

Owned the car since April after getting sick of issues on my 1.9 120 Signum, plus my lust for the V6, and noticed early on that it didn't seem as if it had the claimed 184BHP (or around about). It was also very jolty pulling away in first, seemed very lumpy at lower revs, seemed as if something was holding back but then going again (like fuelling issue) and then went into safety mode if approached anything over 3800RPM (ie. joining motorway or pulling out of a junction in a hurry in work's traffic!).

Took it to Marshalls Vauxhall Peterborough, where I purchased it from, and told them the issues and said it seemed like fuel was being starved but as I'm not a mechanic then I'd leave it to their technicians. As I had an extended warranty I thought great no problems but a week later, after having a 1.0 3 cylinder Corsa courtesy car!, they rang to say there was no faults on their Tech2 system but they found it was the EGR valve. The smack in the mouth was "and unfortunately your warranty doesn't cover that". Anyway I wont go into details over the argument but surprise, surprise same fault was still there, albeit slightly less lumpy in lower revs.

Back again, after kicking off at the dealership boss and another week in that Corsa, resulted in their "chief technician" ringing me to tell me he'd driven my car home the previous night (!) and "what was the problem" as he couldn't find anything. I then said about the juddering in first, to which he said "oh yeah I noticed that" (even though he said he hadn't noted any issue the night before) and explained again the holding back and the safety mode, "leave it with me was the reply".

After 5 days he rang me back to say the car was fixed and "pulling like a train now, as the V6 should". I asked what the problem was and he admitted it was "what they should of checked in the first place, the fuel filter was blocked and we've cleaned your fuel lines out". He told me the safety mode was the car being starved of fuel at high revs and that's why it cut out.

I picked the car up last Saturday and it seemed okay on way home (a 30 miles drive down the A1) but now I've driven around town again at low speeds I'm noticing the issue with the car backing off. It's not like some people's issues where it's hardly moving but I can only explain it as if you keep the car at a steady speed on the gas you can feel it holding back then going again, as if something is blocking the power on/off.

Please help me fellow members as I love the car to bits but it's driving me mad! Any thoughts what else to suggest other than EGR and fuel lines etc. I do understand mechanical speak but I'm not any good at doing it!!!

Are all the fuel joints ok?
Could be that scvs are on way out. Common problem on v6

Are you get lots of smoke on acceleration?

Its a facelift mate, it'll have a DPF fitted so you won't see any smoke.

I would wait until the problems get worse. It should get easier to diagnose then. I had massive problems with mine and it turned out to be blocked/faulty SCVs (suction control valves) in the fuel pump.

Thanks for all the replies so far and great to be a new member of such a friendly club.
It seriously never smokes anyway, I'm impressed with that, and TBH it's more annoying than a major problem so I think I'll take celes' advice and wait to see if it gets worse. However further advice is always welcomed as it would seem that the main stealers don't have a clue!!!
    Pain in the butt though!
