The plug in the boot compartment if you have it is for the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System if you want to retro fit it. You may not have the complete loom, and it's odd that a facelift has that plug too.

The amber light under the autodim mirror only comes on when it's dark outside. Put your lights on and put your hand over the windscreen part of where this sensor is, you will see the LED illuminate after a few seconds.

The sensors for the tyre pressure monitoring are fitted to the wheels when the tyres are off. A loom needs to be run on the underside of the car with the receivers on it, but don't ask me where, it then gets plugged upto the plug you found in the boot. Then you need to get it activated via tech 2. Then that's all if we are talking about the same plug.
