Default Fuel consumption/trip meter display question

What one on the info display gives you the best idea as to what mpg you are getting?.

Got mine sat on "Trip Consumption" just now and its showing anything between 38-44mpg most times.

I too leave mine set to display avarage consumption, and reset it every week as my journeys are usually the same. Just for a laugh next time you are on the motorway, reset the avarage to zero, I did it and it went up to over 45mpg [ my motor is a 3.2v6. so no way in real life], then slowly goes down to the true avarage.

I watch the live figure while driving, have counter 1 reset on each tank, and counter 2 doing the life of the car. so far i've done 1500 miles at an average speed of 34mph, and an average consumption of 37.1mpg. i love having all this information from my car!!

If the car isn't modded, i.e chipped, then usually the trip comp is around 1-2 mpg out, normally reads over, tank test is the only real test, and you will normally find if that worked out to say 40 mpg, the comp will be showing 41.4 mpg, not a lot really. hth.

I went to Reading on Sunday a round trip of 250 miles 98% motorway, the computer said 33.5 average , when I filled the tank when I got back I worked the consumption out and it was 31.5 mpg, so they are not too far out.
