    Default VXR Running costs

    Hi everybody!
I am pretty sure I want a VXR to replace my 2.0T Edition 100.
However I am very torn, worrying about running costs, insurance cost. Getting excited about the potential speed that would be at my disposal. I like to think that the cost of filling up would not bother me or outweigh the fun gained from the expense, but I just don't know not having such a powerful car previously.

What I'd like to ask for is realistic running costs, in and around town, mixed driving, motorway driving. Is servicing any more expensive?
How does the power feel in comparison to a 2.0T remapped?
For the money spent, are there any other car's I should seriously consider?

I have done a lot of research on the topic, and still need to do a lot more thinking and a lot more sums, but I would really appreciate anyone's experiences and thoughts on whether it is worth the extra costs with this level of traffic on the road, and this many potholes.

Any and all information and experience welcome.
Help me make up my mind!!!

Fil 4822 is the man to talk with.

He owns a Vectra 2.0 Turbo BSR mapped car, and he drives mine on occasions as well.

So he knows what its like in both cars

I do have a considered rule though...

Generally if you have ANY worries about running costs, dont buy a VXR.

It'll eat all your budgeted money, then it'll go snuffling for any hidden monies, then it'll go after your inheritance money.... it doesnt care.

Yes its great, but it is not cheap to run especially if you want to have fun in it or modify it for more power.

I filled up the other day, went out and 100'ish miles later used nearly half a tank of fuel... ha... was good though, but nearly HALF A TANK

Servicing is the same. Reliability is excellent. Fun factor is top notch. I get 22mpg around town with a heavy foot and for a full tank I never get less than 250 miles from it. On a motorway cruise you will easily get 30 ish mpg. Road tax is sore but I budget for that and Its less than a tenner a week. My insurance Is very affordable and I'm only 25. Hth.

I'm 26 and pay £720 fully comp insurance, 4 years no claims.
    I get 25mpg on a short 4mile to work drive that is 250miles to a £65 tank.
    On a run its 37mpg at 75-80mph that is 350miles to a £65 tank.
Service costs are normal no cambelt but spark plugs are £10-£15 each.
Road tax is £445 a year.

Had 3 v6 cdti vectras before this and will NEVER go back. Just drive one, took a 1/2 road test before i bought mine. Mine has been a airport taxi, a furniture van and a track day at silverstone where it kept up with monaros.

Cheers for the statistics guys. I've just had an hour long walk talking to my girlfriend deciding I was going to keep my car, and solely save for our first house. Just read how similar running costs are from all you guys, plus it's the cheaper tax bracket so I really dont know again what to do haha.
I get 300 miles to a tank at the moment which is 30 mpg. So instead of £140 a month petrol I'd be looking at £160ish give or take. Tax the same. Insurance a little bit more just about to hit 23 with three points on my licence. Then the additional cost of the car after taken my as p/x. Dammit Soooo wanting it again.
Think I need a two hour walk with girlfriend to clear my head again!
The running costs wouldnt bother me once I had it, just at present I have to weigh my options.
