    Default Spanner lights again

Just back from a 1500 mile trip in the v6cdti and went fine, then next morning started the car and was driving to work when it stalled.

spanner light has come on and a quick diagnostics says the turbo pressure is wrong!! is this just a sensor or is something bigger and more expensive going on??

the mechanic shook his head and said he didn't even know where to start on these engines, and last time i went to the dealer it cost £144 to get my bonnet open when the cable stretched so looking for a nice easy solution please

Do you remember what the fault code was that was generated . for example what chris has suggested would probably generate a p0234 code

think it was a 0049 something to do with pressure from or to the turbo

yep done that, just rang the mechanic again he says the car is faulting the boost pressure sensor but says this might not be broken but it is the obvious one for the car to say is wrong with the symptoms

very confusing, think i will go back to a carb or even a horse and cart lol

When you take the cover off it is on the metal intake pipe on the right its on the top side off the pipe. You can't miss it.

There is no 0049 listed for the z30dti.

Held on by one screw on the pipe above mentioned - although mine is plastic, not metal.

Give it a clean, replace and...

with the engine cover removed, get someone to hold the engine at 1500 rpm. It makes a bit of boost here, but not too much racket. Hear and feel for air leaks in the inlet system and intercooler. Look in particular at the plastic rigid pipe just off the throttle body (where the boost sensor is) mine split just by the TB. Also, another member has had a split in the flexi hose that this rigid piece is attached to. Give the rigid piece a wiggle and make sure it's tight on the TB, too.

Once your sensor is clean and you're happy there are no leaks, if the fault reccurs, you need to find out exactly what code is being thrown and what the accompanying error message is, to make more sense of it, I reckon

% the alternative is to obtain live readings from the sensors and make sure the readings they are giving are logical, not zero, less than barometric (i.e.gibberish and indicating a faulty sensor)

ah sanity reigns, thanks very much shall go pull everything apart and test it on the way to london

have checked all around the pipe work for any splits etc but cant find any, and the garage did an injector check for me, again all fine. They also tried some valve, was in information overload at this point but again was working fine!!!

Have also tried the brake and accelerator turn the key and got 2 fault codes of 0104 and 0500!!! Will search here to see if what they are

    Thanks again for the help
