    Default Timing Chain Advice

    Hey all

Just after some advice realy the owner before me had the timing chain replaced at 81k the car has now turned 89k and starting the make a rattly noise on cold start up
So im thinking of getting it done again to be on the safe side.. Can anyone point me in the right place to get a good timing chain kit? and is there anything i can do to improve the life of the timing chain mod etc?

LMF are selling the kits at a really really good price. Where ever you get the kit make sure its Gen GM and is of the newer type with the new NET tensioner.

U sure it's the chain, I get a rattle every now and again and it last for about a second but someone mentioned a while ago it could be a sticky "lifter" I think was the term they used ?

It was the balancer chain that caused the rattle for me, so if your doing the timing chain it's worthwhile doing balancer too

Replacing it is easy enough if your doing it yourself, the newer system has a larger oil jet and always use the 5/30 oil not 10/40 there is a good how to on z22se owners club, autovaux supplied me a genuine gm kit and change both chains! If it does snap the pistons get hit by the the valves and squash the rings causing the car to burn a lot of oil, I can't stress how important it is to keep the chain in good condition!
