    Default Code readers

Hi, what is a decent fault/code reader that will read codes even if the light does not come on. Would prefer one that uses my laptop

That's how I got my handheld one, but it only reads when light comes on, not when car goes into limp mode.

If the car goes into limp mode, then there should be a logged fault, in which case the Engine Management Light should come on.

The best items for working on Vauxhall cars, is a Vauxhall specific device -
    In otherwords Tech 2, Vaux-Com and Op-Com.

The latter 2 being available from Ilexa or M3Auto. (Other buying points are not approved for discussion on this forum).

There are other devices too, such as TisWeb and Tech 3.

All official devices will vary in cost between approx £600 and £3500.

Op-Com (which can't be talked about on here) or I have an Autel Maxi-Scan MS509. Very competent bit of kit!

That looks pretty ok for the Price Spenny, my MaxiScan was around £90 when I got it, but I think they've dropped to around £60 or so now, so £40ish is bang on!
