Default Found more mods on the car I didn't know were there

Got in the car this morning turned the ECC up to 28 and heated seats on and set off to Kendall cause it was frezzing up here this morn at an ungodly hour.

I have an aftermarket VDO Sat nav installed and a nokia car kit becaus emy car came with DAB. When the sat nav gives me guidance, like turn right up our own ar**, less of that please which give me a screen saying external in. The heater fan cuts off and when she shuts up it's back on again. Does it do this on the factory fitted units. I just need to try with the Nokia car kit to see if that does it.

OK, dont know what your saying...

Do you mean that when you get the 'audio guidance' on the sat nav... the heater fan stops temporarily for the duration of the 'audio guidance'...and then the fan restarts once 'audio guidance' has finished its announcement???

That's right Mr Spoons, sorry didn't explain myself very well did I. It slows down to nothing for the duration of the message. and then back to normal.

is the fan really that loud to warrant it slowing down?

yes, when the ECC is set to auto. The same happens when a phone call comes in on the (original) mobile phone portal. Nice little detail

From Sig's post, and I'll wait for others to confirm, perhaps it is just those with ECC. When the fan is on 8 or 9(Max) it is loud but not enough to bother me, but nice feature so you can hear what she has to say.

Yeah it's supposed to do that, only spec dependant mind. They've hooked the mute wire from the sat nav to the telephone mute on the radio so it reduces fan speed if set up high, not only does it reduce noise but will prevent wind noise across a phone microphone at the interior light pod if your blower is demisting the front screen.
