Confused - Tyres..

Just got home and noticed a whopping great big bolt or screw in my rear tyre..read the thread bout using 225/45/17 but just wondered if I can have 2 on the rear in the 225's and the 'normal' 215/50/17 on the front or swap them round so the 225's are on the front and 215's on the rear..
what would be the best to do?..
might as well get 2 new tyres as they need doing soon anyway and the cost wont be as bad as getting 4 together..

I had the 225`s on the rear with 215`s on the front, no problems there ...

I had a similar thing with one of mine (noticed it cos i heard it clicking on the road!)... left it in for 2 days before I could get to a tyre centre, they were able to put a "plug" in the hole from the inside, costing me just £10 to get an extra 6 months out of the tyre.

nb: this only works if it is through the centre 3/4 of the tread, not on the edges or in the tyre wall.
