    Default Any suggestions/assistance please!!!! Thanks.

    Car is 2006 1.9CDTi Diesel Z19DT engine 120bps.

Just had a brand new DMF and 3 piece clutch kit fitted by a mechanic. On starting the car, the flywheel noise is no longer there (at least I can't hear it) when the engine is running idle but once the clutch is depressed, there is a noise like scraping/rubbing or clanging together of metals coming from engine.

When clutch is released everything seem to sound ok. Mechanic said there shouldn't have been any noise coming from the engine and has no idea what could be causing the noise. He insists the parts have been fitted correctly as he has/does this job on fleet cars for a taxi company.

He will be back today to drop the gear box again to have a look but I need information/suggestions on the likely things that could be causing the noise when clutch is depressed so that we are not groping about blindly.

If it's any help, the car was not going into 6th gear (engine off) after the job was finished but was sorted once the car was started.

Mechanic also mentioned that there was "no drive" going through the gearbox or something like that.

    Any ideas please? thanks.

I bought all parts myself. All parts confirmed by buypartsby and carparts365 with car registration, engine and gearbox number.

Yes. A new concentric slave cylinder was fitted as well.

Not great... I had this engine in an Astra and had to replace the DMF and Clutch.

The noice you descibe was the noise i got when the DMF was on it's way out. Looks like somethign is not right or correctly alligned etc. You defo need to get him to have a look at it and sort it.

Just as an up an update, this issue has now been sorted. Part supplier sent clutch plate with 24 splines rather than one with 20 splines. Claimed that was the clutch plate listed for the car by Vauxhall and was told I have an odd gearbox.

Anyway, happy ending and thanks to all that replied.
