    Default Dealer servicing

Last time I went to lexus ended up with a £1000 bill, the major service alone was £600. Now I know your bound to pay them that sort of dosh, my question is am I better off taking it to my local garage. Just worried how technical it looks compared to the vectra's engine (which they did a very good job on). I know I may lose some p/ex value but I'll save that by servicing at the local. Any opinions?

    Dealer service.
Air filter every 4 years, fuel filter every 4 years < you are assuming that they remember its 4 years since they last did it.

    Local garge
All filters when you say " Service please "

If you did lose during px by servicing at local rather than dealer, at £600 a service you will still be ahead in terms of money!!
VX CDTI is £226+VAT for major service, £600 is obscene.
I buy all VX parts and have my local mechanic do the work. I also know that the work will be done properly.
for example - I'm still awaiting my 5th visit to diagnose (yes not fix, diagnose) the air con issue at the dealer.... not on really is it.

I will admit the Lexus service was top notch, was kept upto date and felt in safe hands. Just trying to find a local that has worked on similar cars and the quality of work is decent.

no body really gives a monkeys aslong as a car has FSH , main dealer or otherwise ! (with respect) its a vauxhall not a bentley or an aston or a ferrari ! dealer stamps are a nicety BUT it doesn't mean its been serviced properly

What do you think of the Lexus, I'm seriously considering the GS450h in a couple of years, like the idea of V8 performance with V6 economy.
