Default Stripping the leather seats to clean them

Not sure if this is best in the Styling or Detailing forum so mods if you want to move it please do so

Bought these GSi leather seats at the weekend, but they stink of stale cigarette smoke and it's disgusting. We had planned to just clean them over and over again and hope that it would eventually go away, however a lot of reading on the net suggests this just doesn't happen so we decided to get a bit more drastic about it...

All the foam and internal fabrics are being washed thoroughly with AG interior shampoo and given a liberal dose of Febreeze, all the leather cleaned with AG leather cleaner and will be thoroughly treated and conditioned several times over the next few days to bring the leather back to life nicely.

Poor Amy, sweetie I am so sorry!!

Hey Ian, would you kill me if I said I was kidding about stripping the leather back

Well, of course I wasn't kidding!!

Great Job. Do the Fabreeze on the foam at the same time as the leather balm.

Wouldn't be the first time I've stripped and cleaned a laptop (ask Mark The Cabby about his ).

But, no, the laptop was out because I checked a thread on here about removing the air bag before I just yanked the connection out of it, wanted to be sure it wasn't going to suddenly go off in my face

Should have put heater pads in the rear seats while you had the chance. Need to take my rear seats apart to this, do they go back on nicely after?

Only stripped one front seat so far, doing the other one tomorrow.

Fully planning heated pads in the rear, but they may have to wait. Also I'm not even sure I'm going to get the rears to fit yet because the set I bought was for a hatchback. Getting the front seats and doorcards cleaned and fitted is the priority at the moment, then strip and clean the rears and see what options I've got.
