    Question roof rack

Okay, I need to move a new lounge carpet that we brought from our old house and is currently in storage at my parent in laws house. The carpet is rolled up and in a protective wrapper.

Even though the inside of the vectra is HUGE it's not quite big enough to swallow a 20ft long carpet.

I'm thinking that I wil probably have to buy a roof rack, but I will not use it again after this.

Could I just put a couple of rolled up towels on the roof and lay the carpet on them and strap down. Would it damage the vec's roof?

    Anyone offer some advise.

Get a van...otherwise you risk damaging your paintwork.

Unless it has a carboard tube inside it's going to bend quite a lot, don't want it flopping onto your windscreen!

    It's got the cardboard tube.
As for a van, I'll need a ****** big one as it won't fit inside a transit due to the length.

Oh the joys of awkward objects....

I wonder if a trailer with a ladder rack woould be an option?

Just stick it on your roof, call the AA and say your car has broken down outside your parents and you want the car transported back home... Oh and by the way, tell them they'll need to bring a big truck for the carpet !!

Or.... stick the reg plates on the carpet and call the AA....

Just tell them that your flying carpet has broken down and you want it towed home

EDIT: You can tell I've had a long day
