    Default possable problem??

Ive probably put this in the wrong section so im sorry if i have.

Im not sure if ive got a problem or not but here goes......

Sometimes it feels like the turbo isnt working as it should be.I got the car last wednesday and it was quick as hell, through all the gears and was extremely impressed. The drive back on the motorway from where i picked the car up was a dream, its flew even in 6th gear.

    But

Now it feels like the turbo is holding back slightly. If im pondering around town and doing mainly 30mph in 3rd and i floor it although it picks up speed, its not like the huge hit of power i used to get.It seems to mirrir it through all the gears.

On the flipside,if im in a hurry, lets say a busy roundabout and i have to give iot some beans to pull away and then get through the gears quickly it seems quicker...i know its coz im giving it more power but something doesnt feel right.

Its almost as if the car doesnt like to be held in a particular gear for any length of time as it effect the turbo slightly if you have to floor it.

Theres no smoke,no lights on the dash and the car runs smoothe and faultless.

Any ideas what it could be?

    Thanks

I had a simular problem and it turned out to be the boost control valve i think it was called, there is a solenoid on top of the wastegate and one at the front of the engine under the cover where the vac pipe goes into the block its like a small black box.

This is based on the z20net engine so not sure if thats the engine you have.

Sometimes mine would boost nicely and sometimes seemed like it was not replaced these and all was fine again.

Also i beleive the ecu learns and adjusts to how you drive, if you drive heavy footed it boosts more and if you drive carefully it does not.

but again im basing this on the z20net.

I also found tweaking mine gave better performance and less lag.

    as tonsta say

just remove the boost sensor and give it a clean , it will probably be covered in black soot

    Thanks guys

I thought i was just getting used to the power but when it does work properly it still throws me back into the seat and its been lacking that.I did for a day or so think it might of been the fuel i put in at morrisons as the first lot i put in when i picked the car up was shell so probably better fuel.since the morrisons fuel put in some shell diesel but no improvment.

The guy who i brought it from did say to clean it the boost sensor every now and again so i think i will do that.

I got the car last wednesday and have done about 800miles so it wont hurt to clean it.

What best used to clean it? ive always used carb cleaner in the past but if its delicate i dont want to risk damaging it.

    Thanks again guys

i would have thought carb cleaner should do the job so long as its alchohol based so it dries.

I have never cleaned one tbh just replaced them as they are cheap anyways

Im goin to give it a clean 2mor and see the outcome.

I think they are about £44 IIRC but a can of carb cleaner is only a fiver so ill go for the cheap option forst.

The engine is a 1.9cdti 150 and have been remapped so there is a possability its got dirty again. The prevous owner said a similar thing happened to him a while back but lost all boost but after a boost sensor clean and egr valve its was like new.

    thanks

You may want to clean the EGR vavle (also with carb cleaner) and have you also checked that thw swirl bar is ttached as these can fail and the bar fall off!
