Eek Caught in the act finally! 610 degrees C!!

My exhaust gas temperature mid-regen! (Z30DT)

Finally - just out of curiosity - managed to catch it in the act when I got home & put the lappy on the car to read the EGTs. Wow!

A little bit higher than the 50C or so that EGTs may rise with the EGR blanked... anyone remember a certain member's "you'll melt the turbo if you blank the EGR" carry on???

Well the turbo can happily put up with this kind of EGT, so I reckon it can cope with EGR blanking. Although I did let it idle for a while after to cool off

    Carry On...

Funny that - that's the exact temperature of a Rolls Royce Spey turbo-fan when it's at max RPM and TGT limiting...

The guy who mapped my motor said they only affect EGT's at idle. Funny how some have had it blanked for 1,000's of miles yet still have no issues. Mine made 190 on an RR and that is 12,000miles of blanking - I don't think the turbo has degraded on any level there.
