    Default Interior light fault

This may be a silly question so apologies if I is. I noticed the other night that my rear interior light above the rear passenger seat does not work. Front lights work fine when door is opened etc. I'm sure it's something very simple to fix but just checking it's not a common thing. 1.9 cdti Sri. Thanks

To be honest I haven't checked anything yet. Been too dark when I've been in to look. With it only being a 58 reg I didn't think the bulb would go that quick ( I should know to check the basics first being a heating engineer)

Switches turned to the 'off' postion on the rear light? Or the lights forced off by the button on the front interior lights?

Might be worth checking the obvious - is the switch in the 'off' position? Is the bulb blown (just because it's only 3 years old doesn't mean the bulb can't have failed. What if the car had been driving on rough ground regularly? What if the rear light was on all the time because of children who don't like the dark?).

It uses the same sensors as the front interior light, so the fault is most likely to be in the rear light unit itself, or the wiring to it which is a flat ribbon that runs on top of the roof lining.
