Turbo issue

hi guys , got a wierd noise coming from the wifes 2007 1.9 150 vectra. It sounds like the turbo has decided its now a siren , on tickover its fine but as soon as the turbo spools it takes about 3 secords for the turbo noise to go. Is this likely to be the turbo or the dump valve?

My missus has the CDTi 150 and exactly the same sympton as you. It's done it for over 30k miles now. Still pulls well with no problems. It's a 56 reg car with 130k miles on it

Leaking exhaust/badly split flexi? There is no dump valve m8.

Thought that on mine, but it deffo comes from the turbo (when revved, bonnet open). Exhaust / flexi is solid and has passed two MOT's like this.

I actually quite like the sound of it tbh

The MOT won't look at the exhaust under (or above I suppose) the engine skid tray.

Fail in that check the pre-cat flanges and the connection to the turbo itself.

Good one about the pre-cat and turbo connection. Will investigate
