    Default Spraying My Grill Advice

    Hey guys,

Next week im going to be colour coding my front grill.
I was hoping someone could please give me advice about how to go about spraying it. im not bad at spray painting but i dont know what kind of primer to use and how to prepare it and what wet and dry to use, so if someone could write me a small guide that will make it easier for me then that will be great, thanks guys

    Wink

ALL SPRAYING AND PREP WORK IN EITHER WELL VENTILATED AREA AND OR FACE MASKS TO BE USED..
MUST BE A DUST FREE AREA AND WARM....DO NOT SPRAY IN THE COLD OR DAMP..
LEAVE AT LEAST 24HRS BETWEEN MAIN COATS OF SPRAYING TO HARDEN, I LEFT MINE FOR 3 DAYS BEFORE APPLYING LACQUER.
I AM NO SPRAYER BY TRADE, BUT MINE CAME OUT VERY NICE..

ANYONE WHO WANTS TO ADJUST/ADD ANYTHING PLEASE DO...
    Just done mine mate,
    1- remove grill
2- clean grill of dirt, back and front
3- use wet and dry fine, take all shine off of the chrome parts till dull and smooth (or p2500)(wet and dry
5- clean surfaces with a cleaning product like isopropyl alcohol (isolpropanol
4- fine fill any holes/stone chips etc
    5- wet and dry again
6- follow step 3 until happy with finish
    7- grey primer, FINE COATS...
8- sand down lightly between coats
9- when happy with primer and surfaces, apply main colour coat, but fine even coats and sand between coats
10- when happy, apply lacquer in even coats..

DO NOT TRY AND PUT THICK COATS OF SPRAY ON (FROM TINS) AS IF IT RUNS YOU HAVE TO STRIP BACK AND START OVER AGAIN..

    hope its helped..

    atvb...micky.

Thanks mate, should be doing it tomorrow and over the next few days ill post up some pics when its done

    One more question.

if the clips break that hold the chrome V on, what is the best way to secure it to prevent it falling off. its a facelift.

Just a quick question, ive sprayed the grill with the primer and base coat and ive started to apply lacquer.

Do i need to do anything between the coats of lacquer or do i just leave it and then add more when its dry,

also, once ive finished spraying on the lacquer what can i do to get it to have the perfect finish.

    Thanks

You dont need to take all the chrome off just as long as you have a good key for the undercoat to bond to
