    Default 3.2 surging when cold

Hi Everyone. I recently bought an 03 3.2l Vectra that has done 125km's and really like it but for some reason it surges when cold. I apologise if this has been covered before but have not had any luck finding info on it.

When I start it from cold (not running for longer than 4-5 hrs) it starts surging after it has been running for about 10 seconds. It will rev between about 500-900rpm and almost sounds like it is going to stall. Sometimes it will start doing it when I push the brake pedal but other times it just starts after sitting there running for a few seconds. If I give it a few revs and hold it at about 1100-1200rpm for a few seconds then go back to idle, everything is fine and it will not do it again until next time it is completly cold.

I tried looking for fault codes by putting my foot on both pedals and turning the key on but the engine light just flashes constantly without any code (is constantly flashing a specific code?). There are no other signs, lights etc when it is surging.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated!

When was it last serviced and when were the plugs changed? After you have have checked that out or had them done. Get the throttle body cleaned out if the symptoms persist.

    Thanks for the replies...

It was last serviced 4500kms ago and included the plugs along with all filters, cambelt etc. I will clean the throttle body and see if the problem persists. Cheers

Cleaning the throttle body seems to have fixed it. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction and link to the "How to" page.
