    Default 150 cdti tuning question

i have a 2006 150 cdti estate and had a chip fitted at the dealers when i bought the car, i dont know what method/type they used but the performance was no better and the fuel consumption was appalling averaging no more that 32mpg!!!!
is this right or was i sold a duffer?
its now been removed but i still want the extra performance but done wanna affect the mpg?

please help and advise a newbie!!!!!

well unless your name is Colin Mcrae then you should easliy be averaging more than that!!

If they have removed your old 'chip' , which was more likely a tuning box, then you should have noticed a drop in power from when it was fitted..So it was prob duff..

There are LOADS of different tuning box dealers in this country, however if you want a real bargain and to save yourself a whole pile of cash over the normal UK dealers, Drop CATERMAN a line via the PM system on this forum..He has discovered a firm in germany who, for £60 odd shipped him over a real rocket of a tuning box...and he still gets way better MPG than you have had so far..

I've ridden in his car with the box fitted, as have others, and we all say that it's the best value for money we've come across..goes like a scalded cat..

I bought the same box as Caterman from Germany and it is the business.

Here is the item number on Ebay 190046439778

Well worth the money, plenty power and no smoke when accelerating.

This will solve your power problems

I cannot be certain on the MPG, but to me it seems as I am getting more MPG than before fitting the box.

whats the difference between a tuning box and a remap?

i am concerned about the long term affects on the engine as i usually keep my cars for a good few years and miles so want the most reliable system regardless of cost

A tuning box is a small electronic device that 'fools' the ECU into increasing the pressure in the fuel rail, this will overfuel the engine and give more power..as yet there have been no reported problems with bore-wash from the excess fuel.their main benefit is price, they're dirt cheap.

A re-map , like the one by Vauxhall preformance centre, will re-work all the ECU's parameters to provide a more powerful engine.. this is around £500 for the 200BHP map.

I was exactly the same but a few short weeks ago!!! Although I have 3.0 V6 CDTI. I found a great company, fitting the box is incredibly easy, my mpg is up an average of 15% and the power gains are incredible. The box is also tailored and at the moment its only on programe 2 of 4.

What really sold it to me is the fact that vauxhall are sniffing around the guy and his ideas for the tuning of the 888 range and he was great on the phone with me!!

Cant recommend this highly enough!!! Well after a week of my use anyway!!

    hi all
can anyone confirm if they had to reply to the german company about the tunning box, i have just bought one after reading all the good reviews on here and have received a email from them. after translating it they are asking details of my car. did anyone else have to reply to theirs or am i looking onto it too much. its the one off ebay £65 that caterman found. or did you just wait and it was delivered.

I think they need to know the engine specs of your car. You've probably bid on a box that is not exclusivly for a specific engine of a specific constructor

Correct, however they don't seem to have the correct connectors for my V6 (hence the CR sensor thread),but they say the box works well on the V6,and they did send a wiring diagram explaining how it should be wired up,but forgot to state what colour the ECU to Sensor wires were!
