In Flanders' Fields the Poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders' Fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe;
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high,
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though Poppies grow

This year please please try to get out and donate for a Poppy -- we are finding that there are fewer and fewer people willing to spend time collecting on behalf of the RBL

Well, well said all of the above - I can't adequately add to it.

Currently in Manila and being US influenced they have no concept of this - everyone asks me why I wear a poppy in my lapel. The answer and explanation moves them.

Mines on order, it's for all in my eyes, from the lads of WW1 through to the guy who bought it in Afgh or Iraq last week.

This tradition must never die, the future depends on it, it reminds ppl of what it represents, where as it would be forgotten.
