    Default Warm Air, how long?

As the title, how long does it take before you get warm air out of the heater vents. Mine seemed to take ages this morning - the forst cold morning we have had around here . My Astra used to only take a mile or so, the signum took about 3 or 4 this morning.....
should the diesel take longer to warm up than the petrol? Never owned a diesel before so really clueless about some areas

have the same problem - also my first diesel, and yes it takes 4-5 km before the air is heated (and it is not yet freezing...)

Yes, diesel engines take a lot longer to get up to operating temp than their petrol counterparts.

There was a thread some time back about how long our cars take to warm up, it seems that they take a kilometer or two to warm up. mine did not start to give out any heat this morning untill I had done about two miles.

It just seemed a very long time, i was nearly at work when it was getting warm. When my astra did this the thermostat was u/s, just wondered if vec and signum diesels suffered from similar faults

i think its just a characteristic of the cdti diesels mate, nothing to worry about, id be more concerned if it heaterd up too quickly!

My old man's CDTI takes about 8 miles to get warmed up, it's the only thing he hates about it...

The GSi is warm in about a mile.. cracking heater in this car..
