    Default Firefox 2.0

For those of you using Firefox, if you weren't aware, version 2.0 is now available for download from www.getfirefox.com. This isn't a beta version, it's the public release.

A few new nice features over 1.5 - the one I really like is the spell-check in the browser, very handy for forums! It checks as you type and underlines any words it doesn't recognise, you can then right click to see it's suggestions.

For those not just using IE, give it a look over as it's a damn site more secure than IE!

Don't go anywhere near IE now. Firefox is far and away the better browser. The Stumble-upon option is great.

It's also a darn site more secure than IE.

It lets you onto sites/forums but doesn't let you logg off so well. I haven't tried or heard of firefox (NO I don't live in a cupboard ) do I just take IE& off and download firefox in its place

You can leave IE where it is, download and run FF as you would any other program. You can even run both browsers together should you need to. FF is not always suported by every web site so sometimes you may find that sites look a bit wierd.

    - Firefox is a damn site more secure than IE! Not to mention tabbed browsing, all the extensions etc. that you can add on etc. etc. IE, for me, is confined to the occasions where a site has been written with code that is IE specific (and not to www standards), and won't run/display properly in Firefox.

Windows won't let you totally remove IE from your system, so your best bet is to just leave it and not use it. You may find it of use one day when you come across certain sites that haven't been written 'properly (to www standards and use IE specific code) and Firefox won't display them properly.

Edit: Spikey, yah beat me to it m8!

I too have been running IE7 in Beta for some time. IE7 is now in full release and can be downloaded from Windows update or from here

MS have introduced tabbed browsing into IE7 along with lots of 'features' to make it more secure but to be honest I really think I prefer IE6 ... I tried Firefox and Opera and really, really didn't like them ... ran them both side by side with IE for a while when I was working on web based systems (for compatibility checking) but IE is the one for me I'm afraid

IE7 seems to have moved much closer to the way Firefox behaves though and I really don't like it ... not only that but lots of sites with clever CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), clever javascript (including an online client database and payments system I wrote ) and web based forms either don't work properly full stop or don't work properly until you lower lots of the security settings Seriously considering rolling back to IE6 on my main home PC now and will not be upgrading my works laptop nor any machines on my network at work for now.

IE7 has some problems, and it really doesn't do anything new or innovative. I've been using Firefox 2.0 for a couple of weeks, and it's pretty good, however, some sites STILL don't support it properly. I've found a plugin called "IE Tab", which lets you nominate some sites within Firefox so they call up IE to handle them. Clever stuff!
