Default 2.2 Direct SRi - Fuel Problems.

Recently i have kept breaking down with the dreaded fuel problems.

It has gone into the garage today and they have diagnosed that the fuel pressure regulator has gone faulty. Thing is i have already had it changed under the recall.

The dealer said that they are contacting vauxhall as they never had one fail that been recalled before. Hopefully they will be paying for it.

We'll have to see what happens.

Was it a Vx garage that diagnosed it as the regulator,

I had mine done under recall, a garage told me it was the regulator, however when Vx did the checks it did indeed point to the fuel pump

Yeah it is in the VX dealers. The same dealer that fitted the regulator under the recall. They have told me it is definately the regulator.

I'll have to wait and see what happens.

I too have had the same problems this year with my 2.2 direct. Had FPR replaced in Jan under recall at shrewsbury following a breakdown. All was fine for a few months and yep another breakdown this time recovered to the Telford dealership and diagnosed as FPR again. This was replaced free of charge after much discussion and calls/emails to vx HQ, they first said I would have to pay as recall parts dont come with the 12months guarantee..

Anyway all fitted and from april till june all was fine. Another breakdown exactly as before, recovered back to telford and spend 4 days sat on there forecourt, diagnosed again and guess what "FPR faulty"
This time I did some research on here and another forum and found that it could most poss be the fuel pump, so I contacted them and mentioned the pump and they said, yes it could be but we will try the FPR first as its the cheapest option (plus I would be charged this time for labour and diagnostics).......I said no please replace fuel pump. We argued for 30 mins on the phone as he didnt want to replace fuel pump before the FPR.
Well I went down there with my membership card, purchased a fuel pump from parts desk walked round to service desk asked for the service manager. Then I gave him the box with the pump in and said fit that before the FPR.

Its been nearly 4 months and no faults, feels like a different car, much more responsive and alot less jumpy............Faulty FPR my rear end.

Fingers crossed it is the FPR for you thugh as the pumps are very pricey (unless you have a full membership trade club card lol)
