    Default DTI Dead!

Odd things tonight, got in the car to go out and the dash displayed a steering wheel with an exclamation mark, guess that power steering fluid issue but it went out within 5 seconds.

Anyway drove literally 1/2 mile to the shops to get cash out, engine wouldn't stop when I turned ignition off and took the key out! It was still running! So in a rush I stalled it in second and got my money out. Then on my return, car with a spanner through it was on and the car won't start. I can hear a relay clicking in the dash, but no starter motor, put the lights on and they don't even flinch when I turn the key!

I've unplugged the battery and am currently sitting in it writing this hoping the car resets whatever and works, let u know in 5mins!

Does this sound like a major electrical issue? I'm fed up of it now, think it's past it best by date lol.

    Could be ignition switch.
But then again the starter relay clicking suggests its probably ok.

Engine running on can be caused by a lot of things.

has car suffered poor running or poor fuel economy?

I've serviced it two weeks ago, and it has been running fine with no mpg issues. I wonder if there's a fuel cut off switch issue, although the elm is now back on and so is the steering wheel symbol. I've got a code reader so shall it in tomorrow night, I'll have to use the girlfriends KA for work tomorrow

Just an update on this issue, and looking for ideas. Tried the car again Saturday lunchtime = started on the button as usual and has ever since!!!! Turns on AND off on command!

My cheap Chinese fault code reader won't even connect to my laptop anymore so I couldn't find out the stored fault codes. The only thing I found was when I did the fuel filter change a week ago I hadn't plugged back in the heater loom. Would this at all make the car behave as described in my first post, considering it ran for four days unplugged with no fault? WEIRD!
