    Default Rack Ends

Anyone had any problems with them before? Been advised mine are shot and need them changed.

Not the track rod ends, but the other end, the bits attached to the actual rack. Getting vibration from them and will need to get them changed.

Are they an MOT fail and does anyone know a rough price?

Not the tie rods, the rack ends. Have done the tie rods (drop links?)

Easy to change or better to get the garage to do it?

Not too bad to do, I did mine last year after getting an advisory at the MOT.

Just need a pair of stilsons or a mofo big spanner to undo them with.

Took a couple of hours all in.

Track rods are very easy to change – both mine had play in them and it transformed the feel of the steering and stopped my wheel vibration, when I replaced them.
Make sure you use genuine GM ones if you want them to last. Also change the Track rod ends (if not already changed recently) as they have to come off anyway.
You’ll also need to get the tracking done after you change them.

The drop links and tie rods are completly separate components. The drop links are connected to the anti roll bar and suspension strut and are to do with the suspensions. The track rods and rod ends are all on the steering
