Default Car takes a while to warm up, Thermostat? Vec C 1.8 Petrol

As the title says, my car takes quite a long time for the temperature gauge to move.

The fans and everything blow hot air.

When it does warm up it fluctuates slightly, say by about 10c either way. It never seems to just stay fixed at a constant temperature.

Nearly every other car I have driven heats up and stays at one temperature, so I am not sure if this is just a characteristic of the vectra or the thermostat needs changing?

Also seems to use a lot of petrol, so this adds to my suspicions about the thermostat after reading other threads.

Did my thermostat last night, running at a constant 89-90c now.

Put new coolant and everything in, as the how 2 says. All in all, quite an easy job, haven't noticed any leaks or anything. Just had to top up a couple of times as the system fills back up.

Seems to be driving a bit better too, will have to see if the mpg improves as it has been very low lately.
