    Angry Possible Glow plugs Problem...???

Hello All, Spanner light on in the motor 3.0 cdti elite.
A friend of mine said it was probably a glow plug away, in order to check Put a multimeter onto the spade connectors and listen for the beep to ascertain the one working. The one that does not beep is the faulty one.

Is this right as I have just done this and only one beeps indicating that five are away. the car starts and drives normally, Is this possible, I know they are only there to start it and they don`t effect the car driving but if five where gone I thought I would have alot of trouble starting it....

I measured my glow plugs on my old V6 CDTi... It should rear 1,0 Ohm to be in order. If over 1,0 Ohm it is faulty..

I had one faulty glowplug. Changed it and spanner light was gone.

No mate sometimes beep can not happen due to resistance being higher best way is to do am ohms check. Which is resistance of each glow plug.

When did spanner light come on. Because if the glow plug sign on dash lights up for normal amount of time on first start an car starts ok.

Problem more than likely something else.

Best thing to do is get codes read.

Spanner light is on permantely. I have it on my mates snap on system If I remenber rightly it was something like glow plug control circuit, or words to effect. If I get it reset the spanner goes away but comes straight back on when you turn the key and stays on.

O cool. So they've bin read.

You say you checked glow plugs but just have a check an look for anything making earth out to engine block. A bolt came off an fell on my number 4 glow plug and was earthing it out so thru up a fault.

You can check each glow plug with a set off jump leads.
Clamp negative on body an touch pos to top should glow red/ White hot within 1-1.5 secs

Also check connection on the glow relay ( behind front bumper, next to power steering pump)
